How does the password generator create secure passwords?

Is it safe to generate passwords on this website?

What is a UUID v4?

A UUID v4 is a 128-bit identifier formatted as 8-4-4-4-12 hex digits, e.g. 550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000. The version 4 variant is generated from random numbers, making collisions practically impossible. It is widely used as database keys and unique identifiers.

What makes a strong password?

Length is the most important factor — every extra character multiplies the guessable combinations. A good password is at least 12–16 characters long, uses a mix of uppercase, lowercase, digits and symbols, and contains no words or personal information.

Should I reuse generated passwords?

Never reuse passwords across different sites. If one site is breached, attackers will try the same password everywhere. Use a unique password for every account and store them in a reputable password manager.

Are generated passwords saved anywhere?

No. Passwords are created inside your browser using the Web Crypto API and are never written to a server, cookie, file or database. As soon as you leave or refresh the page, they are gone.

Can a UUID v4 ever repeat?

Practically never. A UUID v4 has 122 random bits, so the chance of two colliding is about 1 in 2.7×10³⁶ — far smaller than any real-world accident. They are safe to use as unique keys.

How long should a password be?

Use at least 12 characters for everyday accounts and 16–20 for important ones like email or banking. Length contributes more to security than adding symbols, because it exponentially increases the number of possible combinations.

What is password entropy?
